Space Poster for Kids

space poster for kids

What should a space poster for kids have – spaceships, aliens, astronauts, comets, planets, stars and kids having fun. I created a space poster that has all of those things! I was motivated to make the space poster because I think that love everything about space exploration and I wanted to share that with children (and adults too).

Accordingly, the space poster is decorated with all sorts of space-related objects and characters as well as images of children enjoying themselves. I hope that the space poster will inspire kids to learn more about space and maybe even pursue careers in STEM! Who knows, maybe my space poster will even hang in the NASA headquarters one day. That would be out of this world! (Pun definitely intended).

Space Poster Sketches

The first step: I was trying to get a sense of the placement of the elements in my space poster sketches. I doodled everything in Adobe Fresco, which has a natural and accurate feeling when sketching on my iPad. I also made a list of things to include, which helped me in the sketching process. But then I realized that I was getting too caught up in the details and wasn’t really thinking about the big picture. So I just took a step back and looked at the overall composition. And that’s when it all came together!

Finishing the space poster for kids in Adobe Illustrator

Once I had my sketch, I brought it into Illustrator and began tracing all the elements. I decided to go with a very reduced retro color palette to make the elements pop out even more.

The final product ended up looking like something that should be plastered on the wall of a child’s bedroom.

Overall, I’m pretty happy with how it turned out.
