In 2021, I had the opportunity to illustrate an activity book for kids. Callisto Media approached me and asked if they could use my artwork in a variety of different ways including creating cover concepts as well as spot illustrations throughout all 16 pages; this was such an incredible experience!

Spot Illustrations Sketches

I wanted to create illustrations that would be both relatable and light-hearted, so I decided to use Adobe Fresco. The program has a very natural sketching feeling to it, which I felt would be perfect for the illustrations. In total, I created over 30 illustrations for the book. The illustrations ranged from scenes of everyday family life to more emotional moments. I hope that my illustrations will help readers to see the beauty in blended families.

Finally, the illustrations are complete! I worked hard on a tight timeline in Adobe Illustrator to get the characters just right, and I’m really happy with the results.

I love the project of tracing and tweaking the characters in Illustrator. It also keeps the artwork very flexible for the client. I think they turned out great and I hope the family loves them as much as I do!

I think the final illustrations really capture the essence of the blended family.
